Although Seng Soukhaserm was surrounded by food growing up—his family owns a restaurant in his hometown in Thailand—he didn’t learn to cook until years later. A career in engineering was in his future and he arrived in Hamilton 15 years ago to study. But while working part-time at a Thai restaurant during school, he realized that cooking was his true passion.

After learning from his mentor in Hamilton, Soukhaserm moved to Kitchener to open his own Thai restaurant, which he later sold and began working at another restaurant in Midland. It was while driving through Huntsville last summer that he saw the empty building for lease that was formerly Bo’s Thai. He decided to take a chance, make the move to Muskoka and open up his own Thai restaurant—Seng’s Thai Cuisine.
